Shannon inmates at .the Palmerston North Hospital include .,Miss Josie Doyle and Miss Pat- Taylor, both of whom ai'ee now very much improved in health. Mrs. T. E. Harrison, who has been laid up at home for several weeks, is now undergoing treatment in the hospital. Miss Shirley Easton is still very ill, and all will wish these people a speedy retum to health and their homes.

Euchre Winners . Winners at . the weekly euchre tournament, held in Laurvig's Hall by, the Shannon branch of the Labour Party on Friday evening, "were 'Mesdames Andrew and Ropoama. ' ' j . Progressive Euchre The first of a series of progressive euchre afternoons.conducted. by the Church of England Women's Guild wTas • held recently, . the winners being Mesdames D. Harris and A. Thomson, while to- Mr., Roberts, a visitor to Shannon, a consolation prize was given. A delightful afternoon tea was served.

Competition Successes Further Shannon successes at the Manawatu Competition Society's festival, being held at Palmerston North, are Ruth Stevenson and Joan Swindlehurst, who were very highly commended in the piano duet section.
