Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Pink,.of Palmerston North and formerfy Levin residents of many years standing, are at present holidaying at Waitarere Beaeh. The death occurred this morning with tragic suddenness of Mrs. Roderick McKenzie, of Oxford Street North, at the age oi 57 years. Tne deceased lady leaves her husband and one daughter, Mrs. R. W. Satherley, of Linton, to mourn their loss. After serving for 36 years in Hamilton as Crown solicitor, Mr. H. T. Gillies has retired. Mr. Gillies, who was born in Dunedin, received his legal training in Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and commenced praccising in Hamilton in 1905. He was appointed Crown solicitor five years later and until his retirement was the - senior Court officer appointed oy Order-in-Council in New Zealand. He has been three times president of the Hamilton Law dociety. A brother is Sir Harold •Gillies, the noted English plastic surgeon.
