LESNEVICH STAGES SUDDEN COMEBACK
Eeeeived Wednesday 7.0 p.m. LONDON, May 14. The referee stopped what was probably the greatest struggle, between two men ever seen in Britain, when he declared the American, Gns Lesnevich, . light-heavyweight champion of the world- in the tenth round of a fifteen round contest with the Britisher, Freddie Mills. The end was unexpected and sensational besause when the tenth round opened it seemed the odds were on a Mills victory. Lesnevich got th rough with beautifully judged right hooks and straight rights. to the jaw that stopped Mills in his traeks. But Mills, after the third round, did most of the foreing. Left after left went pumping into the American 's face. The ninth round was Mills' best and ali seemed lost for Lesnevich but in the tenth he broke througli Mills ' guard with a right hook which sent him down for the eount of nine whereafter Mills became a helpless target for the American 's slashing attaek. Mills went down for another count of nine but regai'ned his feet. He had beeome little more than a punching bag when' the referee stepped in. Twelve thousand witnessed tlie figlit.
