Received Thursday, 11 a.m. LONDON, May 15. The Minister of State, Mr. P. J. • Noel-Baker, in a written reply in the House of Commons, stated that the United States Governnient in recent months had made pyoposals for the future use and status of bases on certain island territories now administered wholly or partly by governments of the British Commonwealth. Most of tjiese bases, on which the United States spent large sums of monfcy during the war, were in the South Pacific. Mr. Noel-Baker added that discussions were still going on and the Dominion Governments were being closely consulted.
