The daily ration will be eiglit onnces of bread or six ounces of wheat nieal or 101 ounces of niaize nieal. The Government, in addition to bread rationing, will introduce a schenie to control the buying of scarce groceries, sucli as sugar, tea and soap. The decisions fnllow recoininendalions by a Hritish J'ood expert, Sir Uenry Frencli, who was specially invited to Houth Africa. He reported tliat, while peisons of adequate tneans in Houth Africa were feeding far better tlian peojile 111 food-produeing countries like Xew Zealand- and Australia, the ro were inahv Ihoifstluds who had insuflicient to e.at week after -week.
