SHANNON FOOTBALL CLUB
Mr. A. Gillespie presided over a well-attended meeting of the Shannon Football Club last Friday evening. During the course of the evening the usual business was conducted. A transfer from the Shannon Club to the Tokomaru Club of the Simpson Bros. was approved. A suggestion that the third grade players be permitted to form a social club to raise funds to cover travelling expenses was discussed, and it was agreed that permission be granted in this direction. An insurance account to cover injured players was opened and Mr. A. Jefferies made a donation to 'start.the account. It was agreed that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to Mr. Begg, manager of the Club Hotel, thanking him for his interest in tfie club, and for the assistance he had given. Mr. F. J. Lucinsky was appointed travelling manager for the third grade team. After the usual business was completed, Mr. Gillespie outlined the proposals put forward to the Horowhenua Union by the Manawatu Rugby Union with regard to the forming of a combined union. After a discussion on the methods of raising funds for the club it was decided to hold a dance early in June. The. next meeting of the club was set down for May 24.
