The Greek Regent, Archbishop Damaskinos, announced to Parliament that the plebiscite on the return of King George would be held on September 1, says Reuter's Athens correspondent. There were shouts of "Greater Greece" when Archbishop Damaskinos said the provinces which ill fate liad kept outside the Greek frontiers must return to the Motherland. In the House of Commons today, the Secretary to the Foreign onice, Mr. Hector McNen, said that Britain was sending a mission to Greece at the request of the Greek Government to observe the revision of the electoral roles for the plebiscite. France and the United States had also been invited to send missions. He understood the latter had agreed, but France had not yet accepted. Three Labour Commoners, Messrs j Dodds-Parker, Solley and Tiffany, ! in a statement after their return j from an unofficial visit to Greece, said that Greece was rapidly be- • coming a Fascist State, with civil war between the Rightists and all demooratic elements disagreeing with the Government.
