Relatives walked oUt of the inquest when the eoroner ret'USed evidence of treatment before the strike,. I IMeGaughey was 32 years of age and | was sefving a life sontence' for his flart in the illegal imprisonmetit of an I.R.A. chief of stnff who was sentenced to i death by former colleagues but escaped from them and, still manacled and blindfolded, appeared in a Dubliti street artd asked a pasfcerby to help him to the police. From the daj' sentenee began McCaughey refused prison elothes. He was forbidden the use of his own so wore prison blankets.
