BRIGADIER'S VIEW DISAGREED WITH
CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. A different view of incidents on J Crete during the German paratroop mvasion from those expressed by Srigadier Inglis, in evidence at the Luneburg trial of the Nazi paratroop commander, Colonel-General Kurt Student, were expressed by i Messrs McPherson and D. Sampsoii, ! members of the Sixth Field Ambul- J ance, who were stationed on Crete i at tne time. They disagree with the state.nents or Brigadier Inglis that the Germaris did not use their p'risoners as a screen for their attacx agamst Crete, and also his reference to the bombing of the British hospital. They also have a different versioh of the death of Colonel Plimmer, Who they say was not murdered'at the hospital but was killed in the lines. They corroborate the evidence given by Colonel Warren, who described how 200 Wounded troops were forded from their beds at the point of tommy guns, and were used as a screen by the Germans when attacking a position '•held by New Zealand troops. General Kippenberger said he had not heard of any German atrocities on the i.sland during the campaign. He agreed with Brigadier Inglis thfit the s onlv harsh treatment came from Hitler youth, who arrived as garrison troops.
