LEVIN BOYS' BAND
ENJOYABLE SOCIAL EVENING A very enjoyable social evening was spent in St. Mary's Hall on Thursday by members of the Levin Boys' Band and parents anei friends. A tea was first provided by the committee and this was in charge of Mr. F. O. Malcolm, Messrs. J. B. Collett and J. Simpson assisting, After tea the parents and friends Were entertained with a musicai programme which . proved very. popular. The band rendered five ltems and other eontributors wete Barry Walker (elocutionary items), Mr. G. R. Lester (cornet solos)"-and Mr. Austin (euphoniurti solos) . " Miv H. L. Jenkins ably filled the position of accompanist. Special thanks are due to the ladies who assisted at tea. Apologies for absence were received from the patroti (Mr. H, F". McClune), the presidenM-Mr. H. A. Robertson) and Mr. W. Neas. During the evening the secretary (Mr. Collett) advised that in the near future the Palmerston North Silver Band would visit Levin to stage a quick-step display in the afternoon and a cohcert in the evening to assist in raising fUnds for the Levin Boys' Band. Be said Ihe band had performed very Creditably at the recent "bands contest, and the visit to Levin would be of interest to many. /
