Fines of 10s, with 10s costs, were imposed on Ronald Cranley on each of two charges of having no driver's license and no warrant of fitness. Inspector Peters gave evidence in support of the charge. Edwin Frank Vincent paid a penalty of £2, with 10s costs, for having no heavy traffic license. Inspector Wilson stated that the truck was heavily laden with vegetables. Keith Guppy was charged, firstly, with exceeding the maximum speed limit for a heavy motor vehicle and, secondly, with having the wrong class of driver's license. He did not appear. 'Inspector Wilson told the court that defendant was travelling, while' in the vicinity of Paraparaumu, at 50 m.p.h. He had a license but not for a heavy vehicle. Fined £2 on each charge, with 10s costs. Ronald Armstrong did not appear on a charge of excessive speed. Inspector Kehoe stated that while south of Otaki he made a check for a mile on a straight piece of road, and found the speed 60 m.p.h. Defendant, on being questioned, said he thought his speedometer must have been working wrongly. Fined £2 10s, with 10s costs. Joseph- Trout was fined 30s,- with 10s costs, for excessive speed. Inspector Peters stated that the car was travelling along Mill Road at Otaki at 40 m.p.h. in a restricted area. Defendant had been previously warned. Trevor Atkinson paid a fine of 10s, with- 10s costs, for- having no warrant of fitness.
