WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

A well-attended committee meeting of the Shannon Women's Institute was- held recently A new member, Mrs. E. J. Veale, was enrolled. All members agreed that the Anzac dinner was a great success and > the flnaneial statement revealed that besides gifts in kind, an expenditure of £16 was made. Thanks are dne to the Buckley Golf Club for the loan of its electric urn while - the- club was in recess. Now that it was required again, it was resolved that owing to the difficulty in pbtaining wood and coal an immersion heater be piirchased. Mrs. J. A. Easton (president) reported on the annual federation meeting at Linton, which she attended. The competition decided upon for the June meeting was a quart preserving jar decorated with berries.
