MURDERER WHO MAY YET LIVE
Received Thursday,- 7.15 p.m. NEW YORK, May 8. Willie Fraxicis, the 17-yeafs-old condemned Negro murderer, who was given a week's reprieve last Friday when he escaped death hy the lailure of the portable electric chair at Saint Martinville, Louisiana, has heen given another temporary lease of life while Louisiana 's Supreme Court decides whether a man may he made twice to walk ' ' the last mile ' ' to the death chamher. Francis was granted a reprieve — twentynine days — less than 24 hours before he was again scheduled to die. The Chief Justice explained that the majority of the Supreme Court ~ Justices felt the Court should be given the . opportunity ofb'studying writs designed to save the Negro from going to the chair for the second . time. The Governor's office.has heen deluged with letters, telegrams and teleplione calls urging ciemency. •{ J ■
