SURPRISE AT FOXTON
SERGEANT JACK SHOWS PROMISE , • The surprise winner and payer of a big dividend, Sergeant Jack, jhowed good promise for future events by coming from almost last „o run past the' leaders and win comfortably by half a length while ■not in full running. He has not been placed this season, but at Feilding on the final day he showed promise by leading a useful field of hacks to the straight, and then dropping back to finish sixth. Sergeant Jack is owned and trained. by Mr. R. Hornig, of Levin, and is ridden by S. Farland, also of Levin. S. Farland, who has ridden three times since returning from overseas, handled him very well, a fact which can be added as one of the niain factors to Sergeant Jack's success. Levin trained and owned horses have shown good form lately, and many can owe their success to the Levin racecourse, which is at present in excellent order.
