. - — IHAKARA 'S MAY MEETING Owing to a number of counterattractions, there was only a iair attendance at the May meeting of the Ihakara Women's Institute. It was decided that the birthday celebfation will be held in the evenng this year instead of the afternoon as in former years, The delejate's report on the council meeting it Paraparaumu was received. The demonstrator for the afterloon was Mrs. Blake, of Levin, who howed members how to make trticles for the Red Cross from old ocks, and also how to fashion iharming buckle and button crooches from scraps of brightlycoloured silks and organdie mus'in. The bring-and-buy stall'was supervised by Mesdames Trotter and Vincent, and afternoon tea was ■erved by the hostesses, Mesdames Bumphrey, Elliott, Gardiner and Henderson. The following are the results of the competitions : — Points: Mrs. Trotter . Flower: Mrs. Doyle 1, Mrs. Hibell 2, Mrs. Brooks 3. Shrub: Mrs. Mibell 1, Mrs. Elliott 2, Mrs. Gard.ner 3. Vegetable: Mrs. Ehidson 1, Mrs. Trotter 2, Mrs. Brooks 3.
