W.D.F.U. BIRTHDAY
The Shannon branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held a delightful birthday party in the Parish Hall on Monday afternoon, visitors being present from the Moutoa branch of the W.D.F.U., the Shannon Women's Institute and women's section of the R.S.A. Mrs. Guerin, president of the j Women's Division welcomed the i guests, and presented a posy to the! representatives of each organisation.
The afternoon was spent in competitions and entertainments, and an impromptu problem play caused much fun, the winner being Mrs. R. Roberts. Other competitions were won by Mesdames Cronquest, A. Thomson, J. D. Campbell and Siiiclair. Mrs. Aislabie delighted all with her singing. The minutes of the first division meeting, held in Shannon in 1933, were read and a dainty afternoon tea was served by the members. The birthday cake, with its thirteen candles, was cut by 'the first president, Mrs. L. H. Best. After refreshments Mrs. S W Barber (Moutoa W.D.F.U.), Mrs Quinlan (R.S.A.) and Mrs. J. A. Easton (Women's Institute) &li spoke thanking the division for such a delightful afternoon.
