FREEZING WORKERS' WAGBS INCRBASJBS At a meeting of rederated Farmcrs' Provincial executive at Marton on Monday, the Feilding hranch enquired as to the recent increase in wages to freezing workers. It was explained that this increase had to do with the operation of the Minimum Wage Act which carae into force ori ' April 1. „ Touching on this matter, Mr. L. ' Hammond said that- since 1939, wage increases to tllfe freezing industry had cost £900,000, all of which had "been drawn from the Meat Pool Account, Mr. F. O. Jurgens (Bulls) commentting on the position, made the suggestion that hy the way things were - shaping the time would come when . .the Meat Pool Account would be exhausted. "We'll never get anything out of it, ' ' he declared.
