Appareutly tliere is no limit to how' long a trofter ean continue to liold his own in raees. Dusky Sound aud Happy King, who are still winning raees, are 14 years old, .but the official reeord stands to the credit of Bushranger, who won his last raee when he was 18 years old, back in 1923. The lalest recruit to the old trotting liorses' brigade is Ahikiwi, who is also .18 years old, a'nd who rau Cathay to a neck in the Bay field Handieap at Forbury. . She was the rank outsider of a field of 15, and her dividend was of very generous proportions. A- cliestnut mare by Nelson Bingen from Russell Maid, she was registered in 19.36 when eiglit years old. She is trained at Gore by A. W. Crawford for Mr. N. U. Gunn.
