WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
■O There was an excellent attendance of members at the May meeting of the Levin Women's Institute, held recently. Mrs. Kella-way presided and welcomed all members and friends, especially Mrs. Hunt, who hq,d been in hospital for some time. Apologies were received from Mesdames Griffiths, Cheesman, Gray, Alderson, Edyvane, Taylor, ! Hai-tstonge, Dalton, Sciascia, Archer i and Black. The president called for the j report of the South Wellington I Federation council meeting, which was held at Paraparaumu on Api'ilJ 30. Mrs. Nichol, reporting delegate, J gave an excellent and detailed j account of the proceedings, and i was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her report. The delegate : for the Dominion Federation meet- i ing, to be held in Wellington in July, : will be. Mrs. Spencer. j The roll call, "Household Hints," j was very interesting, members join- I ing in whole-heartedly. Mrs. Haley delighted evei-yone with two amus- . ing monologues, "Husbands" and ! " Johnson." Mrs. Haley and her acconipanist, Mrs. Ailen, were presented with shoplder sprays. A i demonstration on the making of 1 silk brooches was given by Mrs.*! Blake.
