Mr. G: E. Breeze, chief surveyoi of ships and chief inspector oi machinery, has retired after 3£ years' service with the-' Marine Department. Hon. B. Roberts,. will again contest the reconstituted Wairarapa electorate which now includgs Masterton borough, it is unoiFicially. reported, subject to the Government adopting the ElectoraL Amendment Commission's recommendations. Prior to the announcement of the commission's. recomniendations, Mr. G. Hansen, Kaijparoro, was a probable candidate for the Masterton seat. The King has approved the posthumous award of mention in dispatches to the late Temporary SubLieutenant Philip Wallace Smith, R.N.Z.N.V,R., for his great bravery when wounded in action.. He was iri H.M;.S. Anking when, the shap? was. lost in Far Eastern waters on March 3, 1942. Having made his way to a lif eboat, he dived overboard to makeroom for others- when it became overcrowded..
