SHANNON SPORTS CLUB

GENERAL MEETING A general meeting of the Shannon Sports. Club Was held recently. Mr. S. W. Barber presided over a good attendance of members. Those present were Mes'srs. W. Moynihan, C. Guerin, R. R. Lind, D. Higgie, F. Edmonds, R. Hook, R. Bibby, S. McEwan, R. Barber, W. Cundy, G. G. Mitchell and R. Vinsen. Mr. S. W. Barber reported on the sports meeting held on March 16, and stated that in spite of the unfavourable weather conditions a successful meeting had been held. Mr. Barber thanked the committee for the invaluable help they had , given, both before the meeting and at the sports meeting itself. He also extended thanks to Mr. J. D. Campbell for the interest taken by him j and the help given in connection with the Highland dancing. Mr. ; Barber also thanked all those who - had given financial help to the club, and those who had donated trophies for the meeting. It was agreed that donations be made to the Levin Pipe Band and the Horowhenua College for their respective servioes on the day of the sports. After some discussion, it was decided to call a meeting of all surrounding sports clubs and endeavour to form a federation of the clubs. It was suggested that Shannon could be the centre of the federation. Recommendations were received with regard to the hurdles and other improvements which could be carried out for the next meeting.
