Personal Mrs. Hager left to-day for Auckland for a month's holiday. i" Mrs. Cahill, who has been on holiday in Manaia, has returned to her home at Otaki. Mr, K. Hager, who has been indisposed, is making good progress towards a complete recovery. Mrs. Bevan, who is at pfesent with her son, Mr. Pat Bevan, is in a serious state of health. Members of the family from distant parts, have been in Otaki. The many friends of Mrs. Cook, at one time a resident of Tasman Beach, will regret to learn that she has been ill for some time and is still far from her usual self. Miss Alice Freeman, of Otaki Railway, has returned to Otaki after spending a very enjoyable holiday at Mt. Maunganui, Tauranga. Butcher's Shop Arrangemeniis are in progress to open a butcher's shop on the old sjte, opposite the Borough Council Chambers. Sporting George Brunell, an ex-Otaki lad, and now in the South Island, had liis first winning ride on Saturday, piloting Sanskrit (5.5) to victory, winning by three lengths. Britain's Food Members of the All Saints' Guild have decided to hold a dance to raise funds for the purpose of sending a quantity of foodstuifs to Britain, and as the committee is an energetic one, the function should be the means of raising a considerable amount of money. Support from all sides is expected. Fire Brigade Billiards Very keen and interesting games of billiards were played at Levin 011 Saturday .night between the firemen of that town and Otaki. The games, which proved most enjoyable, were for the Coley Shield and Ferns, Levin being the holders. On this occasion Otaki won, and the handsome cup trophy now adorns a prominent place at the fire station.
