Australia will receive building soft- ■ woods from New Zealand at the rate of 8,500,000 board feet a year for use in tlie Australian housing programme, uader an agreement just conclude'd between the two Governments.. A report issued by the Department of Commerce states. that New Zealand last year took 9,000,000 feet of Australmn hardwoods but returned only 1,250,000 feet of softwoods in exchange.
