FIRE IN PRIVATE GARAGE
YOUNG MAN BURNT; TRUCK - DESTROYED At 12.25 a.m. this morning a fire was diScovered in a garage adjoiniafg the home i'n Winchester Street pf Mr. Gr. R. Williams, waterworks overseer to the Levin Borough Council. As a result a truck owned by the council was destroyed and Mr. Williams' twenty-year-old- son, fohn, received painful burns. The fire was first noticed by Mr. lonn Wnriams as lie returned to- the house after going to the gate on the departure of a guest. He opened a orae aoor pf tne garage ahd saw -■^at the truck was ablaze. Givi'ng the alarm he opened the entrance -wois and endeavoured" to remo.ve j ihe truck, but a burst of flame in- j fficted nasty burns to his face and \ •ne hand, driving hixn out. Medical j attention had to be obtained for; him. The Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade arrive.d and extinguished the outbreak. The garage, a corrugated iron structure, was insured for £20 with the Liverpool, London and Glob.e Jompany,. but there was no cove^ j m the truck. ' I
