. ♦ Personal " Mr. and Mrs. George Ridyard and Mr. Ridyard, Senr., of Christchurch, are at present on holiday in Otaki after visiting various parts of the" Hawke's Bay district. The Mighty Falylen - Yesterday one of the largest Norfolk pines in the" district, and which has been considered a nuisance' on Ihe Otaki Borough Council's section, was cut down by Mr. W. Chaney. His contracfc, by no means an easy one, was successfully accomplished. lt is stated that the tree is nearly one hundred years old and was planted by the latc Mr. Johnnie Taipua. Brigade Honours At the annual meeting of the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade on Wednesday night the foliowing were awarded honours: — Branchman "W. Cole, and Firemen C. Smith and W. Perkins (mcdals) ; Foreman Jock MacLeod and Firemen W. Perkins, Ray Bills and P. Stocking (twoyear bars) , the former on account of being overseas, receiving two bars; Firemen W. perkins and W. Foster (threc-year cerUficates) . Mr. H. B. Edliouse made Ihe presentations. Fo-Morfow's Golf The draw. for the match for the captain's trophy, which , will be played to-morrow by the dtaki Golf Ciub, is as foilows: — J. Duncan a byc, Jensen v. Saunders, Mayman v. Morton, Anderson v. T. O'Rourke, Rzoska v. T. S. Elllott, D. Stewart v. Jepson, J. B. D'Ath v. Gimblett, E. P. Simcox v. W. D'Ath, Hendren v. Atmore, S. A. Elliott a byc, T. Gray a bye, Turner v.
