An atteinpt t> IjIoav the door of tlie safe appeared to. have been made, biit when this proved unsuccessful, tlte thieves ripped off the liack wail and obtained the money. Thf steel plate at the rear of the safe had been hewn into sections by an axe or a pick. It was subsequently learned tliat n quantity of c'igarettes and cigarette tobacco was also stolen from the shop. The police are hopeful that an Carly arrest will be made.
