WELLINGTON, April 29. The Minister of National Service, Hon. McLagan, in paying tribute to the excellent service rendered by 'the Wo men's War Service A.uxiliary during the war years, a,nnounced toiiight that al though the 'wartime functions • of the auxiliury had virtually. come to an end, it had been 'decided, rather than dis band completelv at this stage, that the organisation would instead go into. re j cess and thus continue to be available when needed as a voluntarv women V I organisation to assist in national cani paigns or national emergeneies. This course had been suggested to the Do minion exeeutive of the Auxiliary which readily agreed. The auxiliary will there fore remain in being to assist, as it has done latterly in the National Savings and Food Savings Campaigns, whenever it is required in the event of a national call being niade. The Minister said he desired to talte the opportunity of paying a tribute to the splendid service given by the whole of the W.W.S.A. organisation during the war years. In this connection, tlu recruitment and despatch overseas of the first group of welfafre workers and voluntary aids, the recruitment and ereation of the W.okjen js Arniy Auxiliary Corps, the recruitment of girls foi the three services generally and for the Women 's Land Army and for the Emer gency Precautions Services, ranked amongst the inost irotable of the organ isations' ac'hievements. No less in im portance were the war loans "Boiub for Bombers" and National Savings Campaigns, in all of which the W.W.S.A. was of tremendous assistance and a great factor in the success achieved. "The multitudinous tasks successfully undertaken by the Women 's Wai Service Auxiliary will provide a lasting example of what tlie women of New Zealand can accomplish by their volun tary cooperative elfort, " said Mr. McLagan, "and the sincel'e thanks of the Government is due to the central execu tive, district committees and all mern bers of the auxiliary, for the excellen: service they have given ko readih through the war years. ' '
