RELIEF FROM DROUGHT
' CHUNGKING, April 29. General rains in Szechwan Province give pronhse of relief from the severe d rough t threatening China's most importaut food-producing areas, but agricultural experts say that several days of rain are needetl to eliminate the danger. A Cape Town message says that the manufacture of cake, jiastries and nuicaroni is to cease throughout South Africa ou Wednesday. The biscuit output is cut 10 per cent. and the serving of bread in cafes bctrveeii 3 p.ni. and 4 a.iii. is banned. It is reported from Stockholm that Swedish measures to save food to help the starving countries include a liinit of three courses for meals in restaurants, cuts in household sugar of 5 per cent .and in bakcrs' sugar of 15 per cent. King Gustav cancellcd a banquel I'or diploniats "because of the worsening food situation. "
