The Horowhenua Rugby football season opened on Saturday and was favoured with fine weather. In the senior championship Foxton and Shannon just managed to accpunt for Hui Mai and Rahui respectively with a margin of two points in each case, while Athletic had an easy win over Otaki; Wanderers had the bye. In the junior competition Paraparaumu A, Kuku, Foxton, Wanderers, Tokomaru and Waimeha opened their points accounts at the expense of Otaki, Hui M&!> Athletic, Shannon, Old Boys and Paraparaumu B.
