Riordon, of Hawke's Bay, is on official business to the Maori Mission, Otaki. Mr. and Mrs. Williams, of Cole Street, Masterton, have been visiting Otaki. Mesdames Fife and White-Scott are at present touring the -North Auckland district. ' The death occUrred at Lower Hutt on Wednesday of Mrs. Kathleen Muriel Buckrell, at one time a wellknown resident of Otaki. Mrs. Anderson, of Dominion Road, Auckland,- is visiting her sisterrinlaw, Mrs. McKinnon, of Rangatira Street. ' 1 . Mesdames Hardham, of Day's Bay, and Hall of Wellington, are the guests of Misses Holmes, of Babbacombe Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. H. Whitehorn, who have been on. holiday for the past two months, return to their home at Auckland this week.
Staff-Sergeant - Leonard John Knox, D.S.M., who accompanies those to attend the victory parade, is the son of Mr. Jack Knox, at one time in business in Otaki, and a nephew olj.,Mr. Alf. Knox, qf Otaki. The Bisliopf of Wellington, RightRev. H. St. Barbe Holland, has announced the appointnient of the Rev.' F. . S." Ramsori, vidar" o,f St. Peter's, Palmerston North, to ,an honorary cahonry ip the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Wellingtoh. Mr. Ramson replaces the Rev. Canon H. Watson, who.resigned recently. Mr. Ramson has been at St. Peter's since 1935. Miss Marion Nairn, daughter^of- Mrs. Nairn and the late -Mr. ..Jock. Nairn, twas_: married to Sergeant. Harbid James, son of Mr. and MfsV Heatherwick, of Ngaio. The brfde was attired in a frock of white embossed satin, while her veil was caught to .the head by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf . of white gladioli. Mrs. Mina Thompson was matron of honour and wore a full-skirted gown of whit'e'silk crepe. She carried a sheaf of pink gladioli and wore similar flowers in her hair. The best man was Corporal B. F. Thompson, of Hamilton. Upon. leaving the church, the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by little Dianne Thompson. Following the reception, at which the guests were received by Mrs. Nairn and Mrs. Heathei'wick, the bride and bridegroom left on their hon§ymoon, the bride Wearing a duskyt>ink suit with black accessories. They will make their future home in Otaki. Slight Earthquake A slight shock of earthquake was experienced at Otaki at 7.55 o'cilock this morning. Bowlers' Shop Day The very successful shop day on Friday, which raised the handsome sum of £35 for the Otaki Bowling Club's-pavilion fund, was due to the ccmbined efforts of bowlers and lady croquet players. Special thanks are due to Mr. Newdick for the use of his shop front, and to Mesdames Jensen, Gurney, Derham, Sen., McGilligan and Percival, and Messrs. Buxton, Lowry, Gimblett, Grey and "Anonymous" (per Mr. Coventry) , who donated prizes. These were won by Mesdames Scatchard, Royal and Sage, and Messrs. J. A: King, V. Noble, H. Jensen, R. Rule and W. McBeth. " Farewell Presentation - " Pte. Henry Meads, who is. a member of J-Force and is at present on leav'e, was entertained on Saturday night "by menibers of the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade, when, speeches suitable to the occasion were made. Superintendent Sharp referred to Pte. Meads as a very efflcient member, and expressed the hope that on his retqrri he would again take up his position with the brigade. On behalf of meinbers, Mr. Ray Bills made a presentation to Pte. Meads, at the same time wishing him bon voyage and a safe return. A suitable reply was made by Pte. Meads. Mr. Edlin entertained with a number of card tricks.
