Received Monday 11.15 p.lu. MELBOU RNE, April 22. Tho Stawell Gift, the rich'est professional foot race in the world, was won today by V. T. Deane (Victoria). The lirst prize was worth £320. Five semi-linals were ruii today before the linal which resulted: — V. ,'i. Deano (Victoria) 7y/ls. 1, E. J. Cumming (Victoria) Oiyds. 2, G. Baird (Victoria) 0l3'ds. 3. The race was won by a yard with a yarcl between secoud and third. Tho time for the 130 yards was 11 14-30 aecouds.
