WELLINGTON, April 22. The application of the Wellington Racing Club to reduce the duration of its winter meeting in July from three Saturdays to one week, by the use of a week day for the middle day, has been refused by the Government. The president of the Club, Mr. E. L. Riddiford, stated today that the Club would not consider using three July dates if it involved racing on the consecutive Saturdays. In view of the Government's decision, the third day would be abandoned and the Club would now race on. July 6 and 13,
