LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Sir, — I wish to tfi'ank Mr. Cahill for his reply, and to point out to him that noi personal attack was made or intended, - bui> information was asked for as to-Athe- support of the Otaki -Gricket Club 'before the' committee had been contacted. In regards the charge of one shilling for matches, who mentioned this? Not me, Sirl Again the H.R.F.U. may insist on the erection of the fence, but Mr. Cahill, as president of the ' Otaki Club, should know it is the duty of the dubs coneerned to have the ground and its amenities in tip-top condition, and it is nothing to do with the council. Show a little bit of club spirit and get the job done. The fence. only needs to be a temporary one as when the Otaki Athletic^ and Cycling Club gets going next year they will require the south end removed beeause it is a danger to cyclists. This happened some years ago. I am very pleased to hear the flnancial side of the club is strong. It should give the council a little rest for a change. Mr. Cahill mentions travelling expenses compared with metropolitan areas, but he did not tell us what rentals the clubs had to ,pay. for the right to play' on the city piay af eas. S'orhe sports support a club for the enjoyment they get out of the game while others have the added ad'vantage of what they can make ou.t.of it. Yours nj*A ' t * ' - "1 * "NO IDIOT." Otaki, April 20.
