Personal M'r. and Mrs. Baker and family, of Matene Street, yere among the Otaki visitors ;to Masterton during the Easter holidays. The engagement is announced of Margaret Marion, elder daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr.tW. V. Rice, Ngaio, to Maurice, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Miller, Paekakariki. Mr. A. S. Trower, who has been stationmaster at Otaki Railway, and who has now retired from the service to take up residence in Wanganui was farewelled by a number of business people and the railway staff, prior to his departure, whicn he was presented w:th a cneque. General regret was expre ised at Mr. Trower's departure. Mr. Bertlesen, on behalf of the Commercial Gardeners, Mr. Southgate, on behalf of the business people and Mr. Watts, on behalf of the railway staff, all expressed thanks to Mr. Trower for his excellent services, regretted that he was leaving Otaki, and trusted that his health would improve. Mr. Trower suitably replied. Painting of School It wili cost £735 to. paint the Foxton District High School building, and the Education Board has accepted a tender for this amount. Rugby Football A match between Petone .and Otaki was played on the Otaki Domain on Saturday and resulted in a draw, six all, after an interesting game. The match between Rahui and Wanderers also ended in a draw, three points each. Art Union Drawn The Rahui Football Club's art union has been drawn and ' the prizes were won as follows: — First, No. 2139, L. Whiteman; second, No. 1697, T. Whiteman; "third, No. 1501, C. Loader, Wellington; fourth, No. 1285, postmaster, .Waikanae; fifth, No. 1433, Doug. Fisk. Tickets are ' to be presented to the Bank of New Zeaiand, Otaki. Aces Dance Thanks to tbe combined efforts of the hiembers of the Aces Sports Club the dance held on Thursday night at the Railway Hall was a ' most enjoyable'function. It was well 3 attended, v/hile arrangements .were admirably carried out by Miss Merwood (secretaryj and her energetic committee." The music by Pompey Durie's orchestrja was ^ppreciated, while the ladies in charge of tlre supper were most atten'tive. Messrs. McKinley and Blomfield were energetic M.C.'s. As the result of the function there will be a profit of about £20. *
