D.S'.O. and two Bars, M^C., who had. a notable :ecord of service with the New Ze'aland and Imperial forces in the second World Waf. Brigadicr Clifton is now Brigadier of the General Staff of the British Commonwealth Forces. Mr. R. J. Gray, Collector of Customs, Wellington, is retiring at the pnd of May after 42 years' service in „he Department • and after nine /ears as Collector of Customs at Wellington. During that long period of service he has worked in all , oranches of the Customs Department at Christchurch, Wellington, md head office, Wellington. Mr. Gray will continue to live in Wellington. .
