Otaki. • Mrs. Richards, erstwhile resident and now of Hastings, is at present on a visit to Otaki; -• The wedding took place. recently at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Wellington by the Rev. J. R. Neild, of Martinborough, of Beverly, only daughter of Mrs. I.:A. Eton, -Wellington, to Edward Malcolm, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Sweetman, Paraparaumu. Private Henry Meads is at present' on furlough in Otaki. His brother, Tom, writing from Japan, states that conditions are quite lavourabie, and that on the whole all are enjoying themselves. ; Some articles, however, are well up in price, for' example, ordinary soap is selling at 5s per cake-. Colonel T. W. McDonald, a member of the Wellington Education Board, after the expirg,tion of his term as a member of the board in July, will not seek re-efection. Representative of fhe Hutt-Horo-whenua urban area, Colonel McDonald was first elected ,to the board 40 years ago, and has held office since, except for breaks when serving on military seiwice overseas or in the Dominion. Smoko Concex-t The Paraparaumu branch of the R.S.A, held a smoke concert at the R.S.A. "dugout," Paraparaumu, recently. The president, Mr. H. J. Eatweli, was chairman. Mr. P. H. Bennett, a member of the Rehabilitation Board, gave a talk on rehabilitation and answered many questions. Mr. G. Clunie ihanked Mr. Bennett on the members' behalf. Toasts were proposed by the president, Mr. J. Smith and Mr. Scott?
