YEAR'S REVENUE £30,636
LEVIN RAILWAY STATION Figures. for passengbf, livestock iand freight business transacted at the Levin Railway Station in the ■ year ended March 31, 1946, show an i interesting fluctuation from the tprevious year, due partly to the jchange of conditions brought abbut by the end of the war, and partly to climatic variations. A decrease in toutwai-d passenger figures of 3247 | is considered to bfe a result b'f large | scale demobilisation of the three Jservices, with a consequent reducjtion in the number of armed serI vices issues, and also thc more iliberal petrol licenses reducing the I number of short trips. | An increase in outward totals of 1 1613 for cattle and calves, and of 17476 forsheep and pigs, is undoubtedly the effect of the good rainfall Jexperienced during the last season, j farmers beins.- compelled to send f at | sheep to Whakatu, Aorangi and j Waingawa, no space being available I at Ngahauranga and Petone. The [following are the figures in detail: Outward passengers, 67,495; season tickets, 150; cattle and calves, 13,952; sheep and pigs, 86,567; timber, 431 tons; goods, 6712 tons; total revenue, £30,636.
