WELLINGTON, April 17. A stateiuent on Ihe importation of nuts from Brilain, was made to-dav by Mr. A. Hamilton Brown, representativo in New Zealand of the Society of JMotor Manufacturers and Traders, of Loiidon. Mr. Brown said it was stotcd rocbntly that laclr. of sliippiug space had limited New Zealand car imports from Britain. Shiriping might well lic a liuriting factor^in the next six months. Ships hau arrived in New Zealand iii ballast but they had sailed from England., before motor industry producf'ioh had ibaclied • presont proportionsi Import, lic'ensing was a great restrictipji on the number of cars that could be iinported on present licence alloeations but the British motor industry was hopeful that licences for British motor vcliicles would be inereased to meet British production for the New Zealand market. It was known that Jtl\e N e w Zealand Government was sympathetie to : -Britain 's export needs 7and had ipdicated that all possible would be done 1 to assist.
