CENTRAL OTAGO PROTEST
GORE, April 16. A resolution objecting to the proposed Electoral Boundary alterations, under which Gore and Mataura are ineludea in Central Otago, was carried at a public meeting in Gore last eveaing. There ivas an enthusiastic audience ot aliout 100 persons, including a number of women representatives from a variety of local organisations. The resolution was: "In the opinion of this meeting the Froposed Cenjttal Otago eleetorate is unsatisfactory :and unwQrkable as it comprises two uistinct types of couiltry with no community af interest and poor communications between the northern and southern sections. This meeting resolves that sti'oug objection be lodged with the Conrmission, arid the suggestion made that the requirements of the Statute would be met by contiuuing the Central Otago eleetorate from the vieinity of Rae's Junction and Beaumont towards Dunedin, takingin, if necessary, Lawrence and extending to a suitable point on jthe '
coast, t'hus including Mosgiel,. Green Island and Outram. 'The Clutlik .elec,to.i;ate .sho.uld .be eompexisated for the territory lost .by extending ,in a westerly direction to the proposed boundaries .of Wallace and Awarua, Goi'e and Mataura then being included in the Clutha eleetorate.
