RECORD POPPY DAY
LEVIN SALES, TOTAL £131 Record saies of poppies were made on Friday last on the occasion of Poppy Day in Levin, when the sum of £131 11s 2d! was raised. Excellent work was performed by a band of l'adies under the direction of Mrs. H. J. Lancaster, and- all available poppies were disposed of. ' Fupils ,of .the Horowhenua 'College * and ("Ohau, Muhunoa, Koputaroa and Poroutawhao . Schols. ,madre records by exceeding all previous f saies. In some instances 100 per cent. ihcreases were gained. The total amount • raised last year was £109 Is 3d. The total this year, which represenfs an ! increase of £21 19s lld, is made ■ up as follows,:; — Mrs. Lancaster and helpers £73 15s 3d; . Levin School £19 3s 3d ; _ Horowhenua College £16 l's; Ohau' School £10; Poroutawhao School £5 Is 8d; Koputaroa School £5 and Muhunoa School £2 10s.
