Wanganui liail line weather for the second day of its Autumn meeting. The course liad dried a lot and the going was much better than that experienced on the first day. The attendance was large, and the totalisator haudled £45,344, making • £85,(569 10s for the meeting. Hurdles to Foreign CJoIn. Foreign Coin won the Fordell Hurdles from a poor field'. He went to the front more than a mile from horne and led to the straight with a break of several lengths. His lead had been reduced by the time he came to the last hurdle, but he was not in serious danger of defeat and won by a length and a half from Nanook, wlio had trailed him for half a mile. Dawn Flight was a moderate third after bcing prominent all the way, and Penwilt was a poor fourth. Speed King, Bronzo and Penwilt were never possil)ilities.

Carmelita Too Smart. Carmelita was one of the first to mo ve in the Sedgebrook Handicap, but Morning Dew soon took up the running and was joined by Tetramareh. These two led to the straight from Carmelita, Malanui and Daneing Grirl. Carmelita got to the front at the distance and held on to win by a length from Malanui, wliile Master Day came fast to be third, tlireequarters of a length away. Daneing Girl, lieading a bunch, was fourth. Robeology Again. Robeology again showed too m'ucli speed for the hack sprinters, winning the Landguard' Handicap comfortably and paying a surprisingly good priee. When the field had settled down Robeology was in front and slie was still showing the wav across the top where Step Far, Koneke, Theioway, Persuade and Alehemist were following. There was uo great cliange entering the straight, where Koneke was beaten, and in the run home Robeology drew out to win by four lengths from Dymondy, on the'outer, who got up to beat' Step Far a head, with Persuade fourth, just ahead of Theioway, Alehemist and Lady Charm. Poor Field. In the Brunswie.lt Handicap Gay Stroller scored oue of the easiest wins of the day from a poor field. Master Baron set the pace, but Gay Stroller did not let him get far away and was with him entering the straight, soon drawing out and eventually winning by live lengths from Master Baron, who lasted long enough to get second place by a head from Blaelt Plato. PoMarama was an indilferent fourth. Topweight's Triumph. Financial was always well placed in the Earle Stakes aiid in the end he won nicely. Battle Dauce and Derryogue made the running, atnd crossing the top and approaching. the straight they were trailed by Financial and Foxcatcher with Duplicity well up but weakening. Peter's Choice came, from last and appeared on the outside in a prominent position as the field was turning for home. Altliough Derryogue hung on well Financial was too good in the last furlong and rau home a winner by tlireequarters of a length, wliile Peter's 'Choice iiuished; well another tlireequarters of a length away. Tula was fourth, then Btandee, Gavstock and Gardane. Breeze along's divideud, the best of the day, rau into double figures. Hack Sprinters. Tudor Chief led practically all the way in the Matarawa Hack Handicap, and nearing the straight Colopier and Parnell were ncxt with Ivilarney Boy making an effort and Bronzo handy. Tuuor Chief did best iu a good finish to win by a neck from Colopier, who beat Parnell by a head. Sketeh was a poor fourth aud the rest were well beaten. Useful Sprinter. Specialist aud Blue Bonny made the running in the Campbell Handicap and led to the straight from New Deer. Bluc Bonny dropped out in the run home but Specialist rau ou well and won by three lengths from New Deer, wliile Tlieiolyn finished strongly to be third another length away. Autoscore rau on fairly well in fourth place. Tideless was in a niee position for three furlongs, but could not hold her place and was poorly placed when the field turued for home. Drambuie and Autoscore lost a little ground at the start. . Specialist was superior to the opposition and.is a very useful sprinter.
