Received Sunday, 7.10 p.m. SYBNEY, April 14. The value of the rabbit industry to Australia has increased by at least 1000 per cent, since the war began. Apart from a rapicUy expanding local market in skins and carcases, huge overseas markets are opening. In 1939 about 5,500,000 pounds weight of skins were exported, valuad at £581,000. Last year the export figure reached 12,500,000 pounds weight, valued at £4,631,628. The United States takes over 80 per cent. of the experts. Local consumption accounted for 150,000,000 pounds weight of skins or nearly a thousand million rabbits. The industry keeps ten Australian fur felt hat factories in production.
