AUCKLAND, Api'U 14. The Govermnents of both AustvaUa aiul New Zealand realise that is is neeessary for the future security of the Paeilic, that the United Kingdom and United Gtates, as well as Australia and New Zealand, must eooperate closely on a friendly and reeiproeal basis, said the Prime Alinister, Hon. P. Fraser, in an in ter view after his return from Australia by tlyi'ngboat on iSaturday afternoon. Cabled reports from Canberra stating that Australia and New Zealand were prepared to act as joint trustees for B-ritain in the Pacilic, and that' the Australian Prime Minister, Mr.- Chifley, wonld ott'or assumption of f all responsibilitv of trusteeship at the Prime Ministers ' Conference rn London, were referred to the Prime Minister, who said these cabled reports were completely out of foeus. Une thing in them which was accurate was the statement that eonversations revealed a harmouious autlook between the two Dominions. The Prime Minister has been in Australia for about four davs. He was accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Nash, who was on the iirst stage of his jonrney overseas to represent New Zealand at a series of iwportant conferences. Mr. Fraser and Mr. Nasli held discussions in Canberra on Friday with Mr. Chifley and the Australian Minister of External All'airs, Dr. Evatt. The discussions centred around problems rerating particularly to the Pacifie, which may be discussed at the Prime Ministers ' Conference in Loddon. Affer an informal but useful meeting, -ir. Fraser rett/rned to New Zealand while Mr. Nash continued his journey to London in a Lancastrian. Included in the Prime Minister !s party when he returned on Saturday afternoon, were Mr. A. D. Mclntosh, secretary of E.\ ternal Aff'airs, and Mr. W. O. Harvey, ckief private secretary to the Prime Minister.
