• •" 'WELLINGTON, April'.12F • The Bakers' Union -'had placed: its case about Easter Saturday work in the hands of the Federation of Labour, and an agreement had been made that the men were to \york if required, said the Acting Minister of Labour (Hon. (fO'Brien) tonight. However, the federation had asked that tlie Mast&r Bakers' xVssociation sliould reeommend that the employers, as an act of grace, sliould reward the men with increased payments. Representatives of the association had stated that tliey had no power to make sucb an agreement on belralf of their organisation, and it would be leffr to the individual master bakers. The Minister said that,. as ijiembers of the union, were coming tof the assistance of the master bakers and tlie gen eral public so tli.at a supply of bread would be available over the holidays, lie personal ly recommended that master bakers who availed themselves of the men 's offer should treat them generously by paying at least time and a half for time worked on Easter Saturday. ^
