GOLF BALL SITUATION
The situation regarding the supply of golf balls to Auckland players is still vague as ever, but there is reason 10 hope that reasonable quantities of balls may become av'ailabie later on in the season. A message from Wellington quoted an importer in that city as stating that there would be an ample supply of balls for players in the Domiuion this season. One of Auckland 's largest importers of golf balls expressed surprise when the message was referred to him. "There has been absolutely no definite information received here, to my- knowledge," he said. Runiours were still thick, and there were many conflicting reports on the position, but nothing eoncrete had come through. The Wellington importer stated that stocks of English golf balls hatl already begun to arrive, and these v'ould be available to player-s soon. He \yas commenting on a recent report that Canadian golf balls were not being allowed into the country, tliough tlxey ' were available. Sorting out the most reliable of the nuxnerous reports he had received, the Auckland, importer said he expected small supplies of balls to start trickling in any time ' during the next few months, andabout half -way through the season fair, supplies sliould be available..
