WELLINGTON, April 12. The na'mes of the personnel selected from the Army, Navy and Air Forcc to represent New Zealand at the Victory Parade in London op June 8 were announced tonight by the Minister of Defence (H011. F. Jones). Great care had been. taken to ensure that all, overseas sei'viee in all theatres • of war counted in the selection, said' Mr. Jones. All branches of tlie three Services, includiilg the W.A.A.F., the W.R.N.S., the W.A.A.C. and the New Zealand Army Nursing Corps, v.Tere .represented, and the quotas allotted were proportional to the numbers who had served in each branch. The selection was made : to eover all parts of the Dominion and personnel, of course, had been included to represent the Maori Sergeant A. C. Hulme is the only Y.C. of this war included in the roll. Mr. Jones explained that the Government was most anxious that all V.C.'s of this war should be included in the eontingent, and to this end had invited them all to go. However, Captain Upham, Lieutenant Elliott and Sergeant Hinton had x'eplied that they had to decline the invitation with regret. Tt was hoped that Squadron-Leader Trent, V.C., would join tlie Air Force detachment in England. It was now hoped, said Mr. Jones, that the Maunganui would be ready to sail on April 20 and not April 22, as announced earlier.
Those selected from the Horowhfenua distfict are as follows: — Army: Major Y. K. Flemihg, D.S.O., Levin. Navy: Telegraphist R. D. Cleary, Otaki Failway, and Wren H. Greenaway, Waikanae. Air Force: L/Ac. A. W. Fairway, Levin.
