SERVICEMEN'S WIVES WALK OFF SHIP
Received Friday, 11.5 p:m. SYDNEY, April 12. Half-an-hour before the troopship David C. Shanks sailed from Sydney for the United States, two brides of United States servicemen walked off the ship. One refused at the last moment to leave her mother and three sisters, who had sat on the wharf all uight to say good-"bye. Dcspite assurances hy United States Army officefs. she refused to return to the ship, apd her haggage was fihally hrought dff "by an other bride. The other woirian walked off the ship carrying a hahy. The rest of the 430 wives aiid bahies appeared- cheerful.
