ASHBUKTON, Aprilw 10. ' T11 view of the fact that over twotliirds of the electors of Mid-Canter-bury are in the Ashburton electorate, and in response to strong pressure from town and country, Mr: R. G. Gerard, member for Mid-Canterbury, has decided to make his services available to the National Paitv for selection for the Ashburton electorate. Mr. Jack Acland, M.P. for Temuka, ofiicially stated today that he had decided to offer his services to the National Partv for the Ashburton seat at the next election. Mr. Acland said he based his decision on the ground that he is living well inside the Ashburton electorate new boundaries, which inrorporate slightly inore than half of his present supporters.
