Personal Mr. John Fry is a patient at the Wellington Hospital. He is making satisfactory progress. Flight Lieutenant K. B. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith, of Te Horo, was among f our injured when a Liberator- crashed at Sessano, in Italy, on April 2. Eieven others were killed in the" crash. Miss May L. Groves, an invalid nurse from World War I, writes stating that the food shortage is most acute in England, many articles being unprocurable while numbers of residents are at times forced to go hungry. The war years, she says, were better than at present, except with regard to bombing. Nurse Groves says: 'Tf only the food situation would improve all would be much better, and had it not been for parcels sent from New Zealand to various ones many would have been in a state. of starvation." Nurse Groves, whose address ,is Glenwood, Westfield Lane, JBaidslow, St. Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex; England, would be glad of pen friends. Rifle Club Dance The Hautere Defence Rifle Club dance, held on Saturday night, was well patronised and all present spent an enjoyable time. Music was supplied by Messrs. Sharp and Bennett, and gave every satisfaction. Another similar dance will be held on Easter Saturday night.
