LEVIN STOCK SALE
. FAIR YARDINGS OFFERED There were fair yardings in all sections at the Levin weekly stock sale except for poor entries in the cattle section. Fat lambs sold well, as did also quality dairy cattle close to profit. There was a large yarding of sheep, a fair entry of dairy cattle and small yardings of beef, veal and store cattle. Dairy Cattle A medium entry of dairy battie was yarded and bidding was keen, with resultant good prices,- Quality dairy cattle close to profit were keenly sought after. The realisations were: Springing heifers, . £12; calved cow, £18 5s; W. B. heifers, £16 10s, £17 5s, £18 10s to £20 5s; .calved heifer, £10. , Store Cattle There was a small ehtry in the store cattle section and the following prices were realised : ' Cows, £3 5s, £3 16s, £4, £4 5s to £4 7s 6d; three weaner heifers, £3 15s to £4 18s. Station Cattle A small entry was again experienced and the prices were as follows: 30 P.A. cows, £6 7s 6d; 20 bul.locks, £9 6s. Fat Cattle The fat cattle sold weil and there was keen competition for good lines. The quotations included the following prices: Vealers, £2' 7^ 6d, £3 17s 6d, £5 2s 6d, £5 7s 6d, £5 17s 6d, £6 2s 6d, £6 7s 6d to'£6 12s 6d; runners, £5 7s 6d; ex- dairy cows, £6 2s 6d, £6 17s 6d, to £8 12s 6d; one fat heifer, .,£6 12s 6d. Fat Lambs Fat lambs were, partic.ularly sought after and several gooa prices were paid. There was a hcavy yarding of sheep and the prices were: Ewes, 17s 6d, 18s lOd, 3.8 at 24s 10d,' 25s 4d, 14 2-tooths at 28s 4'd and 17 b.f. at 31s 4d; wethers, 25s, 30s 4d, 31s lOd, 32s lOd, 33s, 34s 4d to 34s 7d; lambs, 3 at 22s 4d, 11 at 23s Id, 18 at 23s 4d, 132 at 24s 7d, 26s 7d to 33s lOd. ! Store Sheep j i A large yarding of store sheep was •presented and demanded good prices, which were as follows: 64 ! wether lambs at 13s 7d; 100 b - lambs at 19s; 41 m.s. (cullJ iamos at i 6s 7d; 55 b.f. lambs at 18s 4d; weth- ! ers, 15 f.f. at 26s,' 17 f .f . at 27s 7d, 1160 at 21s- 3d, 81 at 30s 9d; ewes, :9s 6d. The. realisa-tions-were: Light stores, £1 and 2 at 27s 6d; medium slores, 34s, 35s to 5 at 39s 6d; large stores,. £2 2s to 5 at £2 4s; porkerS, £2 15s, £3 5s to 5 , at £3 7s; baconers, £3, £3 18s, £4 11s to 3 at £5; boars, 3£ gns., 4 gns., 4| gns. to 41 gns.
